Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, we love our volunteers! As a 95% volunteer-powered organization, we welcome volunteers to Crossroads and are grateful for their time and endless kindness. If you are interested in volunteering as an individual, please visit our Volunteer Page or email Volunteer Manager Steve Sakson. If you are organizing a corporate or other group to volunteer, please email Administrator Martha Avery to learn about your options.

  • We welcome everyone to join us for a warm meal at no cost. We offer meals 11 times per week and a pantry program every Thursday. For hours and directions, please visit our Programs page. We hope to see you soon.

  • We strive to provide healthy, delicious meals. Our fantastic volunteer cooks are excited to whip up guest favorites like cajun chicken & vegetables with rice and corn casserole, baked frittatas with spinach, roasted red peppers, feta, and lasagne with garlic toast and vegetables. We always include a vegetarian option as well.

  • Thank you for considering a gift to Crossroads. We couldn’t do this important, life-saving work without your support. Please visit our Donate Page or email Camille Greenwald, Donations Liaison, at donations@crossroadsnyc.org.

  • In most cases, yes. First, you should contact our Donations Liaison, Camille Greenwald, at donations@crossroadsnyc.org so we can discuss the kinds of food that will help our guests and their families thrive.

That said, if you're looking for the best way to support us, we ask that you consider a monetary donation rather than going out and buying new food.

The reason is buying power. We have access to food at discounted prices, so your money will go a lot farther. For instance, the average retail price of a bag of rice is $1.25. We pay $0.62. The average retail for a can of tuna is $1.80. We pay $0.72.

So, a cash donation actually helps more people than taking a trip to the grocery store. To donate, visit our Donate Page.

If you don't feel comfortable making a monetary donation, we understand. Just write to us at the address above to arrange a food donation.

  • Unfortunately, we currently do not have the staff or storage to manage clothing donations. We humbly ask you not to leave anything at our door. We will have to throw it away.
